Basic pay: the same for every branch

Monthly basic pay is one schedule for all uniformed services, set by grade and years of service (37 U.S.C. § 203(a)(1)). The 2026 rates are in Executive Order 14368, Schedule 8, effective January 1, 2026. The Marine Corps chart uses that same table.

Marine Corps rank titles

The table lists the Marine Corps title for each enlisted and officer grade in the DoD comparable-grades table. Pay is set by grade, so the title does not change the basic pay in the chart. Two E-9 titles are printed in the source, one senior and one general.

Senior enlisted basic pay

The DFAS enlisted notes list the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps among the E-9 positions where basic pay is set at one amount regardless of years of service. The other positions on that list are the Sergeant Major of the Army, the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, and the Chief Master Sergeant of the Space Force. The amount is in the notes on the 2026 chart.
